Longest time spread of female...
In your personal experience how long is the longest time spread that a single female koi has spawned or released eggs?
This morning there were eggs all around the main pond......and it's hanging me up! All my known females have either spawned already or died. That leaves two logical scenarios.....a mature female held back some of her eggs and did a second/final release OR I have another male....that "is not".
I tend to believe that one of my known females......held back some of her eggs, today's spawn d'jour is honestly leaving me scratching my head. That is why I ask how long of a time spread in a single season/year have you had a female koi release eggs?
The flip side of this question; what is the longest/oldest age of a hold out koi that you thought was male, but was not?
Project additions in the past two years:
Three Jinbei Sanke purchased 11/07 (I still own 2 of them) one male one female.
One Ogata Showa turned Shiro Utsuri male purchased 3/08, just resently released into the main pond.
Brett's two little Sanke grow out girls now Nisai (both had belly's this year) and a Showa male.....that was identified during the primary spawn as a female.
One Sanke male the very last of my purchases May 09 - but he is still in Q.
It's OK....I'm doing another round of water changes........EVEN if I thought we were done this year.

Koi alive but not moving...
I did a pond reconstruction earlier last week, set up the filters, re-added the plants, etc. Made sure the pH, Ammonia, and Nitrite levels are perfect, and had the pond mature for a week with a perfect slight green color to the water.
Yesterday, I picked up a couple of 4inch koi, made sure they were healthy before bringing them in, had them float in the bag for a half hour to 45 minutes, netted them out of the bag so waters don't mix of course, carefully placed them in. A few minutes after introducing them to the water they began to eat some of the invisible algae and all seemed fine. This morning I went out to give them a feed, but they seem to be still for 5 minutes or so, they then take off quite quickly around the pond, then sit, without eating or anything. I figured they'd still be in their sleeping stage or something, but now 3 hours later, they're still doing the same and they have barely ate a thing.
I'm thinking that they still may be adapting to their new environment, but I thought I'd check in case it's something serious.
Let me Know,
Best Regards.

Fathers Day Gift...
Well, my father's day gift arrived today via the brown van...
I'm one happy koi kichi!! I got an amazing 3 step kohaku from SFF. May not be perfect, but I smell a baby grand champion contender!
It will be awesome when the shoulders fill out and the arrow type beni plate on the fish's right side rides up higher so it can be seen.
Very very happy daddy!
Opinions?

Spawning Question-on the...
Is it possible that a male koi run out of milt? I know Fred and Showoff spawned one night and then the next night Ginger and Fred....but, I've yet to find any baby asagi...so is it possible he used up all his sperm on Showoff and then couldn't fertilize Ginger's eggs?both females have always spawned at different times but, this is the first year ever that I'm not seeing lots of baby asagi by now...not even in the pond and I usually have at least 25-50 that survive in the pond....
